Huskers Score Sixth at Sam H. Hall Intercollegiate

  In the final round of the Sam H. Hall Intercollegiate Tuesday, the <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Nebraska men?s golf squad carded a 299 for a sixth-place finish.  The team compiled scores of 302, 291 and 299 for a total of 892 over the two-day competition. 

     The leader at the conclusion of Monday?s play, Southeastern Louisiana, took home the championship with a 54-hole score of 852.  Shane Rushing of Southern Mississippi used rounds of 66, 71 and 68 to claim medalist honors with a final score of 205. 

     Senior Jim Troy grabbed the highest finish for the Huskers with a three-round score of 222 to finish in a tie for 25th.  One stroke back, junior J.J. Sullivan and senior Seth Porter each shot a 76 on the day for a total of 223 to share the 32nd-place spot.  With Nebraska?s lowest round of the day, freshman Judd Cornell used a final-round 72 to finish with a piece of 36th.  Rounding out the Husker starting five, senior Kevin Bryson recorded a 235 for a 63rd-place tie. 

     The squad returns to the links in two weeks for the West Florida Invitational to be held March 1-2, in Gulf Breeze, Fla.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
