Cream Downs Scarlet in Intrasquad

Lincoln, Neb.- The Nebraska men’s gymnastics team hosted an intrasquad meet on Friday, Dec. 13, at the Francis Allen Training Center. Cream took the win over Scarlet 326.75-325.40.  

The competition began on floor, with sophomore Chase Mondi led with a 14.35 followed by Scarlet’s Luke James with a 13.95. Taylor Christopulos notched a 13.90 and Max Odden had a 13.80. Team Scarlet grabbed the narrow win on floor, 54.85-54.8. 

On pommel horse, Cream’s Nathan York put up a 14.5, senior Travis Wong put up a 14.15 and senior Yanni Chronopoulos scored a 14.10. In fourth was Christopulos with a 13.55.  Cream defeated Scarlet 55.70-52.45.

Rings was highlighted by Asher Cohen scoring a 14.00 followed by Chris Hiser’s 13.90, James Friedman’s 13.40 and Anthony Koppie’s 13.30. Scarlet topped Cream 53.85-52.1 on rings. 

On vault, Taylor Christopulos and Alex Nitasche showed out with a 14.60 apiece. Mondi and Anthony Koppie followed with a 14.50, and York and James each scored a 14.45. Freshman Nik Tarca came in fourth with a 14.2. Scarlet eked out a 58.15-56.45 win on vault.

On parallel bars, Joey Pepe topped the Huskers with 13.85, Taylor Christopulos earned a 13.40.  Chronopoulos placed third with a 13.35 and James came in fourth with a 13.20. Cream narrowly took the lead 53.45-53.15. 

Cream secured the victory on a high bar with just a 1.35 point differential over team Scarlet, 53.25-52.95. Christopulos posted a 13.80, Pepe excelled with a 13.60 and Max Odden took third with a 13.3. Chronopoulos and Partridge tied in fourth with a 13.15. 

Max Odden took home first in the all-around with a 79.45, followed by Chase Mondi’s 77.55 and Alex Nitache’s 76.8. Nik Tarca came in fourth with 76.6. 

The Huskers open the 2025 season at the Rocky Mountain Open in Colorado Springs, Colo. on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. (CT).
