Four Huskers Earn Annual Senior Awards

Four Nebraska seniors have been named winners of 2024 team awards.  The four will formally receive their awards as part of the Outland Trophy banquet in Omaha on Jan. 22.

The winners of the awards have all spent at least five years in the Husker program, including three players completing their sixth year at Nebraska. Defensive lineman Ty Robinson was chosen as the recipient of the Guy Chamberlin Trophy, running back Rahmir Johnson will receive the Tom Novak Award, safety Isaac Gifford earned the Cletus Fischer Native Son Award and linebacker John Bullock was selected for The Cornhusker award.

The Chamberlin and Novak awards were chosen by a vote of media members who regularly cover the Nebraska program, while the Native Son and the Cornhusker winners were chosen by the Husker coaching staff.

Robinson had a standout senior season for the Huskers, earning second-team All-Big Ten honors from the Associated Press. Robinson has 33 tackles this season, including a team-leading 11 tackles for loss and six sacks. The Gilbert, Ariz., native will play in his 60th career game in the Pinstripe Bowl, a Nebraska career record.

Johnson has been a regular in the Husker backfield since the 2019 season and will complete his career in his hometown on Saturday. Johnson has played in 40 career games and enters the bowl game with 940 career rushing yards and 428 receiving yards. He has 20 receptions for 170 yards and a touchdown this season.

A Lincoln native, Gifford is third in career tackles among defensive backs. Gifford has 69 tackles this season and 236 career stops entering the Pinstripe Bowl. Gifford will play in his 57th game as a Husker in the Pinstripe Bowl and has made 34 starts during his career.

Bullock joined the Husker program as a walk-on in 2019 and has developed into one of the leaders of the Blackshirt defense the past two years. An Omaha native, Bullock has 65 tackles this season, including nine tackles for loss and three sacks. He has played in 46 games in his Nebraska career.
