The Nebraska women’s gymnastics team will travel to Champaign, Illinois for its first Big Ten meet this Saturday, Jan. 18, at Huff Hall. The meet is slated to start at 1:00 p.m. (CT) and will be streamed on B1G+.
NU will compete against Illinois. This matchup marks the 45th time that Nebraska and Illinois have met. NU holds a 30-13 lead in the series. The last time the two teams faced off was at the 2024 Big Ten Championships, when Illinois grabbed a 196.700-196.250 victory.
Last Time Out
The Huskers traveled to Gainesville, Fla., to compete in a quad meet against No. 6 Michigan State, No. 7 Florida, and Northern Illinois. Nebraska scored a 195.600 to place third.
Multiple Huskers placed in the top ten for all-around – Emma Spence (T-fifth, 39.300), Whitney Jencks (seventh, 39.250) and Sophia McClelland (eighth, 39.050). Jencks (9.850) and Isabel Sikon (9.675) both set career highs on bars in the meet.
Scouting the Competition
Illinois is ranked No. 44 in the Road to Nationals standings, with a team score of 194.175 in their first meet. The Fighting Illini are 2-1 on the season, with wins over SEMO and UW-Eau Claire.
Chloe Cho led Illinois in its most recent quad meet, scoring a team high on vault (9.850) and earning a 38.700 in the all-around.
