Nebraska gymnasts Emma Spence and Lauren Homecillo picked up Big Ten weekly honors, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Spence was named Big Ten Gymnast of the Week, while Homecillo earned Big Ten Event Specialist of the Week.
In the Huskers’ home opener vs Maryland on Sunday, Jan. 26, Spence won the all-around title with a 39.475. She also claimed the vault title with a 9.825, as well as a share of the beam title with a 9.900. Spence notched season highs on vault (9.825), beam (9.900), floor (9.900) and in the all-around (39.475). Spence now has 31 total individual titles in her career.
Homecillo claimed the floor title in her first time appearing in any event lineup this season with a career-high 9.950. Her 9.950 was the highest score given to a Husker on any event this season. The Papillion, Neb. native played a large part in the Huskers getting their highest score on floor this season (49.325) and helped clinch the narrow 196.325-195.950 victory over Maryland for the Huskers’ first Big Ten win of the season.
