The No. 23 Nebraska women’s gymnastics team fell to No. 6 Michigan State 196.725-196.700 on Saturday, Feb. 15 in the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
The Huskers moved to (2-9) on the season (1-4 Big Ten), while Michigan State improved to (7-2) (4-1 Big Ten).
Emma Spence tied for the all-around title with a 39.425, and Spence and Whitney Jencks split the bars title with a 9.900. As a team, the Huskers had three season highs.
Rotation One
Nebraska scored a season high 49.025 on vault as a team to open the event. Emma Spence led NU with a 9.850. Katie Kuenemann (9.800) and Sophia McClelland (9.800) both notched season highs, followed by Isabel Sikon with another 9.800. Whitney Jencks (9.775) and Ayzhia Hall (9.625) rounded out the rotation.
Rotation Two
Spence and Jencks both earned a 9.900 to lead NU on bars, scoring a 49.225 as a team. Emma Simpton (9.825), McClelland (9.800) and Sikon (9.800) followed up for the Huskers. Emalee Frost (9.750) finished the lineup.
Rotation Three
Nebraska scored a 49.075 on beam, led by McClelland and Sikon both earning a 9.850. Spence and Jencks both registered a 9.800. Hall (9.775) and Simpton (9.725) finished the rotation.
Rotation Four
The Big Red concluded the night on floor, notching a 49.200 as a team. Lauren Homecillo and Halle Rourke both grabbed a 9.900, with Spence following with a 9.875. Jencks and McClelland both earned a 9.850, with Reese Baechle ending the event with a 9.675.
