With an 8-1 start to the season, the Nebraska women’s tennis team is set to host the Miami (OH) RedHawks this Friday, Feb. 21 and the Liberty Flames on Sunday, Feb. 23. The match against the RedHawks is set to start at 5 p.m. (CT), and Sunday’s match will begin at 11 a.m. (CT).
NU is coming off of double-header wins against the Saint Louis Billikens, 7-0, and the Omaha Mavericks, 6-1, improving their season to 8-1. The Huskers were ranked No. 36 in the Feb. 20 National ITA Rankings, a team-best since the 2020-21 season.
The RedHawks are 0-4 on the season with their most recent loss to University of Cincinnati, while the Flames are 3-5 most recently losing to Michigan State. Miami and Liberty are set to play against one another in a neutral match on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 10:30 a.m. (CT).
The Huskers are coming off the fall individual season in which the team tallied 34 single wins. Sophomore Maria Taranova led the Big in fall singles wins with seven, and had a stellar freshman season in which she earned a 23-8 record, the most wins by a freshman since 2010.
In the 2023-24 season, led by head coach German Dalmagro in his first year at NU, the Huskers went 14-11. The team accomplished two Big Ten Tournament wins for the first time in program history and senior Raphaelle Lacasse was named an All-Big Ten First Team honoree.

History: NU leads, 3-0
The Miami (OH) RedHawks come to Lincoln with a four-match loss streak. Their losses have been dealt by Youngstown State University, Cleveland State University, Marshall University and Cincinnati. The RedHawks bring five seniors and four underclassmen to their fifth spring dual, led by three-time MAC Coach of the Year, Ricardo Rosas. Miami (OH) ended last season 13-12. The teams’ last meeting was in 2016, when NU won 4-3.
Liberty (3-5, 0–0 CUSA)
History: 0-0
The Liberty Flames travel to Lincoln for the first-ever matchup between Liberty and Nebraska. The Flames have wins over Longwood, Navy and Radford. Liberty has a strong 5-2 record in the No. 2 singles position and have secured the doubles point in four of seven matches this spring, led by head coach Dash Connell in his first year with the program. The Flames ended last season ranked No. 56 with an 18-9 record.
