Huskers Claim Four Individual Titles, Fall at Minnesota

The No. 20 Nebraska women’s gymnastics team fell to No. 13 Minnesota 197.075-196.500 on Saturday in the Maturi Pavilion in Minneapolis, Minn.

The Huskers moved to 2-10 on the season (1-5 Big Ten), while Minnesota improved to 7-1 (5-1 Big Ten).

Emma Spence claimed the all-around title with a 39.450. Isabel Sikon claimed the vault title with a 9.875, setting a new season high and tying her career high. Sophia McClelland (floor, 9.925) and Emma Simpton (beam, 9.900) both earned shares of individual titles.

Rotation One
The Huskers opened the night on bars, notching a 49.125 as a team. Emma Spence led with a 9.900, followed by Whitney Jencks (9.875) and Isabel Sikon (9.800). Sophia McClelland (9.775), Emma Simpton (9.775) and Emalee Frost (9.575) rounded out the lineup.

Rotation Two
NU moved to vault, where they scored a 48.950 as a team. Sikon led with a season-best 9.875. Spence (9.850), Jencks (9.800) and McClelland (9.750) followed for the Big Red. Katie Kuenemann (9.675) and Jenna Sartoretto (9.675) finished the rotation. That marked the first time Sartoretto has competed for the Huskers in her career.

Rotation Three
Nebraska scored a 49.175 on floor, led by McClelland (9.925) and Spence (9.875). Halle Rourke (9.850), Jencks (9.775) and Reese Baechle (9.750) followed for NU. Lauren Homecillo rounded out the rotation with a 9.725.

Rotation Four
The Big Red concluded the night on beam, notching a 48.895 as a team. Simpton led with a 9.900, followed by McClelland (9.875) and Ayzhia Hall with a season-high 9.875. Spence (9.825), Jencks (9.775) and Sikon (9.775) concluded the competition.

Up Next
The Huskers will travel to Columbus, Ohio on Sunday, Mar. 2 to compete in the Big Fours at the Covelli Center. The meet is slated to begin at 4 p.m. (CT) and will feature No. 2 UCLA, No. 22 Ohio State and Rutgers. The meet will be streamed on the Big Ten Network.
