Two Huskers in Top-10 on Day One of Winter Cup

Louisville, Ky. - Three Nebraska men’s gymnasts competed at the preliminary competition at the USA Gymnastics Winter Cup on Friday. Taylor Christopulos earned fourth place in the all-around with a score of 78.80, Alex Nitache’s 76.50 secured him a 10th-place finish and Caden Clinton put up a 60.90 for 26th.  
 
Christopulos nabbed fifth place on pommel and sixth on still rings and vault. Nitache earned fifth place on the parallel bar, sixth on vault, eighth on the high bar and 10th on floor. Clinton earned 10th place on parallel bars.  
 
Floor 
Nitache started with a 13.25 on the floor, earning him 10th place. Clinton finished in 18th with a score of 12.80. Christopulos put up a 12.55, earning 25th place.  
 
Pommel Horse 
Christopulos led the Huskers with a 13.65, taking fifth place. Clinton scored a 12.65, placing 14th. Nitache scored a 10.65 on the pommel, placing 29th.  
 
Rings  
Christopulos, a Utah Native, earned sixth place with a 13.10. Nitache scored a 10.35 for 19th, and Clinton scored 10.00 for 29th.  
 
Vault 
Nitache earned 14.15 to take sixth on vault. Christopulos earned fifth place on the vault with a score of 14.10. Clinton did not compete on this event.  
 
P Bars 
Nitache earned the highest score of the Husker trio with a 13.50, good for fifth place. Clinton earned a 13.25 for 10th place and Christopulos’ performance earned him 15th on p-bars with a 13.10.  
 
High Bar 
Nitache, with a 12.85, snagged eighth place for the Huskers on the high bar. Christopulos, with a 12.60, finished in 12th place, and Clinton, with a 12.20, came in in 19th.  
 
 Future Huskers  
Ty Roderiques earned 11.45 on the pommel, 11.75 on rings, 12.55 on vault, 11.55 on p bars, 10.70 on high bar and 10.65 on the floor with a combined 65.65 All-Around, earning a 23rd-place finish.  
 
Alex Cox put up a 10.90 on floor, a 10.15 on pommel and a 12.45 on vault.  
 
Next, the second stint of the competition is on Sunday, Feb. 23, at 3:30 p.m., with the meet being livestreamed on the USA Gymnastics YouTube channel.
