Neighbors, Zimmerman Earn Big Ten Weekly Honors

Nebraska earned two Big Ten weekly awards, announced by the conference office on Wednesday. Henry Zimmerman was named the Big Ten Men’s Field Athlete of the Week and Jacelyn Neighbors earned the Big Ten Women’s Freshman of the Week honor.

Zimmerman threw a season’s best 22.84m (74-11 ¼) to win the men’s weight throw at the Nebraska Tune-Up on Friday and claim his third-career Big Ten weekly honor. The mark is third-best in the Big Ten and moves Zimmerman, the school record holder, up to 13th in the country.

Freshman Neighbors cleared the second-highest mark in school history at the Nebraska Tune-Up (4.28m, 14-0 ½) to earn the pole vault title and her first career Big Ten honor.

Nebraska has a big week ahead, with the Big Ten Indoor Championships on Feb. 28-March 1 at the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion in Indianapolis. The two-day meet begins at 9 a.m (CT) on both Friday and Saturday with both days being streamed on B1G+.
