Nebraska track and field hosts the 49th Annual Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational at the Bob Devaney Sports Center Indoor Track this weekend, competing against athletes representing 21 other schools across the country.
Action begins with combined events at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, followed by field events at 3 p.m. and running events at 4:30 p.m. On Saturday, the heptathlon continues at 10 a.m., while running events begin at 11 a.m. and field events at 12 p.m.

Huskers in the Polls
The Nebraska track and field program opened the first week of the USTFCCCA rankings inside the top 25 for the men and the women, as both squads came in at No. 12.
This season, NU has posted 12 marks inside the top-20 nationally, while adding 10 Nebraska all-time marks. Additionally, the women’s ranking is the best week one indoor ranking since 2010, where they were also 12th.
On the men’s side, Wilson is first in the country in the high jump, clearing 2.24m (7-4 ¼) at the Graduate Classic, while Nelson (2.18m, 7-1 ¾) and Kooi (2.17m, 7-1 ½) currently hold the ninth and 12th top marks respectively. Otterdahl has the third best shot put in the country this season, throwing 19.68m (64-7) at the Mark Colligan Memorial. For the women, Rogers broke the facility and school record last weekend, clearing 1.94m (6-4 ¼) for the top high jump mark in the country. Johansson is also at the top of the list in her event, throwing 18.59m (61-0) at the Mark Colligan Memorial.
Rogers, Wicker Earn Weekly Honors
Nebraska track and field’s Rogers and Wicker earned Big Ten Track and Field Weekly honors, announced by the conference office this season. After her record-setting performance last week, Rogers, the USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week, claimed a share of the Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week honor, and Wicker was named the Freshman of the Week, the first Husker to complete this feat.
A native of Rutherford, N.J., Rogers cleared a personal-best and Husker school record 6-3 1/4 (1.91m) in the high jump and took the early collegiate lead. Freshman Wicker, a 2024 New Balance Indoor National Champion, made his Husker debut last week at the Holiday Open, clearing 17-4 1/4 (5.29m) to claim the event title.

Johansson Named to The Bowerman Preseason Watch List
Johansson was one of 10 track and field athletes nationally named to The Bowerman 2024 women's preseason watch list. The Bowerman, presented by the USTFCCCA, is the highest track and field accolade given annually to the most outstanding college male and female athletes. First awarded in 2009, watch lists have been released since 2010.
A four-time All-American, Johansson claimed the 2023 Outdoor NCAA title and Indoor NCAA silver medal in the shot put. The junior from Hok, Sweden swept the Big Ten shot put titles last season, putting up a school record-breaking mark of 64-1 1/4 (19.54m) at the outdoor meet to earn the Big Ten Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year honor. Earlier in the season, Johansson topped the indoor school record book, throwing a 63-4 (19.30m) at the Frank Sevigne Invitational. Her best indoor and outdoor distances also broke the Swedish records.
