The No. 21 Nebraska women’s gymnastics team scored a 196.675 to take second in the Big Fours meet on Sunday in the Covelli Center in Columbus, Ohio.
The Huskers moved to 4-11 on the season (3-6 Big Ten). Emma Spence claimed the vault title with a season-high 9.900. Spence (fourth, 39.400), Whitney Jencks (fifth, 39.300) and Sophia McClelland (sixth, 39.200) competed for the Huskers in the all-around.
No. 3 UCLA took first with a 197.200, followed by NU. No. 22 Ohio State placed third with a 196.650 and Rutgers took fourth with a 195.825. Nebraska finished the meet with three season highs and a career high.
Rotation One
The Huskers opened the night on bars, notching a 49.200 as a team. Emma Spence led the way for NU, notching a season-high 9.925. Whitney Jencks (9.875), Sophia McClelland (9.825) and Emma Simpton (9.800) followed for the Big Red. Isabel Sikon (9.775) and Lauren Hollifield (9.775) rounded out the lineup. This marked Hollifield’s first collegiate competition.
Rotation Two
NU moved to beam, where they scored a season-high 49.375 as a team. Sikon scored a career-high 9.925 to lead the Huskers, followed by a season high by Ayzhia Hall with a 9.900. Simpton (9.900) and McClelland (9.850) followed them up. Jencks (9.800) and Spence (9.725) finished the rotation.
Rotation Three
Nebraska scored a 49.150 on floor, led by Spence, Jencks and Lauren Homecillo all earning a 9.850. McClelland (9.825) and Reese Baechle (9.775) followed for NU. Halle Rourke finished the lineup with a 7.925.
Rotation Four
The Big Red concluded the night on vault, notching a 48.950 as a team. Spence led the way with a season-high 9.900, followed by Jencks and Hall both scoring a 9.775. Sikon (9.750), McClelland (9.700) and Katie Kuenemann (9.750) concluded the event for the Huskers.
