Lincoln, Neb. - The No. 7 Nebraska men’s gymnastics team delivers No. 3 Ohio State their second loss of the season. This improved Nebraska to 7-4 overall and 1-1 in the Big Ten, while Ohio State fell to 9-2 and 1-1 in the Big Ten. Yanni Chronpoulos had a stellar outing, earning two event titles and career highs on pommel horse, still rings, parallel bars and high bar. Chris Hiser shared the still rings title, and Taylor Christopulos took the pommel horse title.
Floor
Starting off the competition on floor, Ohio State's Jesse Pakele took the event title with a 14.20. Sophomore Chase Mondi nabbed third with a .20 score differential, earning second place with a 14.00, and stuck his final pass. Nathan York followed suit with another stick, earning a 13.90 to surpass his career high of 13.85 for fourth place. Luke James had a sixth-place finish of 13.55. Graduate Taylor Christopulos made his season debut on floor, putting up a 13.50.
Pommel Horse
On the pommel horse, Chronopoulos notched a 13.90, a career high for the senior from Milton, Ontario, Canada. Nathan York earned a third-place spot with a 13.75. James Friedman earned a seventh-place finish with a 12.35. Christoptopulos grabbed an event title on the pommel horse, scoring a career high of 14.25.
Still Rings
Chronpoulos earned his first career title alongside Chris Hiser with his seventh ring title, both scoring a 14.25. Asher Cohen, Hiser and Chronopoulos all recorded career bests on the still rings. Cohen secured a third-place finish with a 13.75. James Friedman was not far behind, scoring a 13.70 for fourth.
Vault
James secured a second-place finish on vault with a score of 14.20. In third, Christopulos made a season debut in this event scoring a 14.15. Fourth place, Alex Nitache, a sophomore from Knoxville, Tenn., recorded a career high with a 14.10. Chase Mondi came in fifth on vault scoring 13.85.
Parallel Bars
Chronopoulos led the Huskers with his second title of the day with a 13.85 and a season high. Cole Partridge led the event off with a fifth-place finish with a 13.40 and Joey Pepe closely behind him with a 12.25. In eighth place, Nitache harnessed an 11.20.
High Bar
Christopulos grabbed a second-place finish with a 13.80, while Max Oden stuck the landing, capturing a third-place finish for the Huskers with a 13.70. Chronopoulos placed fourth with 13.35. In eighth place, Partridge scored a 12.75.
