Ceyair Wright has played in every game this season with five starts. He has set career highs with 32 tackles, 1.0 tackle for loss, 1.0 sack, two interceptions, five pass breakups and one forced fumble. He is tied for the team lead in pass breakups and ranks second in interceptions.

Wright made his first tackle as a Husker on punt coverage against Colorado. Wright saw extensive playing time at cornerback against Illinois and finished with a career-high six tackles. He also had a five-yard strip sack that marked his first career sack and resulted in a Husker takeway. Wright started his first game as a Husker at Purdue and finished with five tackles and two pass breakups. He tied for the team lead in tackles against the Boilermakers and set a career high in pass breakups.

In his second start of the season against Rutgers, Wright recorded four tackles with one interception and two pass breakups. He joined Malcolm Hartzog Jr. to stuff a fake field goal attempt by the Scarlet Knights. Wright had six solo tackles at Indiana, tying his career high in tackles while adding one pass breakup. At Ohio State, Wright recorded three solo tackles. He started against UCLA and made three tackles. The Los Angeles native had a big homecoming in Nebraska's game at USC. He recorded four solo tackles and had a 45-yard interception return for a touchdown. Wirght also blocked a field goal for his first career blocked kick.

Wright played in 23 games with 15 starts at USC from 2021 to 2023. He totaled 41 tackles as a Trojan with 1.0 tackle for loss, one interception and five pass breakups.

Wright played in two games and recorded two tackles while redshirting in 2021. As a redshirt freshman in 2022, Wright played in 14 games with 11 starts. He had 28 tackles – including 21 solo stops – while intercepting one pass and adding a pair of breakups. In his final season at USC in 2023, Wright played in seven games with four starts and totaled 11 tackles, 1.0 tackle for loss and three pass breakups.

Before USC, Wright was a two-way standout as a wide receiver and cornerback for Loyola High School in Los Angeles. He was a two-time all-state selection at Loyola. As a junior, Wright made 34 tackles with four pass breakups and one interception. He was also a member of the Loyola basketball and track teams. On the track, he was a member of Loyola’s 2019 state champion 1,600-meter relay team.

Personal
Ceyair was born on Dec. 19, 2002, and he is majoring in child, youth and family studies. Wright is also an actor, having appeared in several movies and TV shows including Space Jam: A New Legacy, Training Day, 2 Broke Girls and Grown-ish. 

Ceyair’s father Claudius, was a cornerback at Arizona who went on to play two seasons in the World League of American Football. Ceyair’s uncle, Mazio Royster, played football at USC, leading the Trojans in rushing in 1990 before going on to an NFL career. Ceyair’s cousin, Darick Holmes, was a running back at Portland State and in the NFL. Another cousin, Darnay Holmes, was a cornerback at UCLA who went on to an NFL career.
