2024 (Senior)
Javin Wright dealt with a health issue in August and September but has returned to play in six games, totaling 19 tackles and 1.0 tackle for loss. He made his season debut in the fifth game of the season at Purdue and posted three tackles. Wright then recorded four tackles against Rutgers. Wright also had four tackles at Indiana. He had a 7-yard tackle for loss at Ohio State. He recorded four tackles against UCLA. Wright made three stops at USC.

2023 (Junior)
Wright played in 12 games with one start at linebacker in 2023. In addition to his 51 tackles, Wright contributed two interceptions, two pass breakups, 1.5 tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks and one forced fumble. He was a key member of a defense that posted Nebraska's best rushing defense (92.9 yards per game), total defense (303.5 yards per game) and scoring defense (18.3 points per game) since the Huskers joined the Big Ten in 2011. NU ranked in the top 20 nationally in each of those three categories.

Wright had a then-career-high four tackles in the season opener at Minnesota. He recorded four more tackles against Northern Illinois while intercepting a pass that set up a 35-yard touchdown drive. Wright made five tackles against Louisiana Tech, and he also broke up the first pass of his career. 

Against No. 2 Michigan, Wright totaled seven tackles with a pass breakup for the second straight game. Wright made four tackles at Illinois. He also had four tackles against Northwestern, including a half tackle for loss. Wright finished with five tackles at Michigan State. He totaled a career-high eight tackles against Maryland with an interception and a forced fumble that resulted in a Husker takeaway. Wright started his first game of the season at Wisconsin and had six tackles. In the season finale against Iowa, Wright posted three tackles, including a half sack.

2022 (Sophomore)
Wright played in 10 games in 2022 with one start, seeing action on defense and special teams. He made an impact in the win over North Dakota with a blocked punt, the first of his career. Wright saw his playing time on defense increase as the season progressed. He made two tackles against Illinois and had one tackle against Minnesota. 

Wright earned his first career start at No. 3 Michigan and had two tackles. He played extensively at nickel against Wisconsin and recorded one tackle. He again saw extensive playing time at Iowa and finished with two tackles.

2021 (Redshirt Freshman)
Wright played in two games in 2021. He made his Husker debut against Fordham, recording his first career tackle. Wright also played against Buffalo.

2020 (Covid Season)
Wright suffered a preseason injury and missed the entire year.

2019 (Redshirt)
Wright redshirted in his first season at Nebraska. Wright earned playing time as a true freshman by making his Husker debut on special teams at Illinois, and he was also a member of Nebraska's travel squad for the Colorado game.

Before Nebraska (Hamilton HS)
Wright starred for Coach Mike Zdebski at Hamilton High School in Arizona. As a senior, Wright made 18 tackles, had an interception and a pair of pass breakups before his season was cut short by injury. During his junior season, Wright helped Hamilton to an 8-4 record and a trip to the 6A playoffs. Wright made 41 tackles from his defensive back spot, while adding an interception, seven pass breakups and two tackles for loss. Wright first made an impact on defense as a sophomore, when he had 52 tackles, 12 breakups and an interception, helping his team to a 7-4 record.

Wright was ranked among the top 15 prospects in the state of Arizona and among the top 70 cornerbacks in the nation in the 247Sports Composite rankings. Wright also visited UCLA before choosing Nebraska, and had offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon, Syracuse and Washington among others.  

Personal
Javin is the son of Toby Wright and Jandi Spann-Wright, and he was born on March 19, 2000. He graduated with a degree in sports media and communication in May of 2023. 

Javin’s father, Toby, was a two-year letterwinner as a defensive back in 1992 and 1993, playing in 24 games and totaling more than 120 tackles. He played six seasons in the NFL with the Rams and Redskins.
