2023-24: Sophomore
Leo Linquet had his best season yet in his Husker career, earning 14 singles and 14 doubles wins in his sophomore year campaign. The software engineering major passed 20 career victories in both singles and doubles, and consistently competed in the No. 3 doubles slot with senior Shunya Maruyama. Linquet went 5-1 in Big Ten singles, with wins over Wisconsin, Illinois, Northwestern, Indiana and Purdue in the regular season, and Illinois in the Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinals. Linquet’s victory over Illinois’ Bowers helped push the Big Red to defeat #26 Illinois, advancing to the semifinals for the first time in program history. In the fall, Linquet and junior Calvin Mueller finished second in doubles play at the ITA Milwaukee Tennis Classic.
Off the court, Linquet was named to the 2024 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
2022-23: Freshman
Leo Linquet joined the Nebraska tennis program in the spring, and found immediate success by winning his first collegiate match in Nebraska’s season-opener against Creighton. He spent the majority of the season in the No. 2 singles spot, where he finished the year with a 7-10 record. In doubles, Linquet posted an 8-7 record and played in the No. 1 doubles spot for the last seven matches going 4-2.
Off the court, he was named to the 2023 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
Before Nebraska
Linquet brings an impressive track record to Nebraska. In 2018, he was ranked No. 2 in Argentinian 18 and under rankings. His career high ranking in ATP singles is No. 1324 and No. 1546 in doubles.
Personal
The son of Gustavo López Linquet and Gabriela Lautersztein, Leo was born on Oct. 1, 2001. He has one sister, Paula. Leo is majoring in software engineering.
