Junior (2024-25)
Four-time CRCA All-American Emma Rhode enjoyed a solid fall campaign in 2024. Twice, she posted an aggregate score of 1,190, which is the second-highest score in school history. Rhode owns season bests of 596 in the air rifle and 596 in the smallbore. Her smallbore score against Ohio State and Navy was a career high. She has earned 13 first-place finishes, five second-place finishes and three third-place finishes across all three events.
Sophomore (2023-24)
Rhode competed in every match for the Huskers in her sophomore season and earned seven first-place finishes, five second-place finishes and six third-place finishes. She was named a Second-Team CRCA Air Rifle All American and earned honorable mentions in the smallbore and aggregate. The Kempton, Pa., native posted averages of 584.00 in the smallbore and 1,178.54 in the aggregate, both of which ranked second on the team. Her air rifle average of 594.54 is the highest of any sophomore in NU history and was first on the team. Rhode was also selected as a member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll.
Freshman (2022-23)
Rhode had an immediate impact for the Huskers in her freshman season, competing in every match, including the NCAA Championships. She earned second-team air rifle honors from the CRCA and tied the second-highest air rifle average on the team with a 594.00. She broke NU’s air rifle record when she shot a 598 at Alaska-Fairbanks, and tied the second-highest air rifle score of 597 at The Citadel. Rhode posted the third-highest smallbore average (583.62) and the second-highest aggregate average (1,178.00) on the team. She notched 10 top-10 overall finishes, including two first-place and one second-place. She earned two first-place and two second-place finishes in the air rifle amongst 11 top-10 finishes, and she recorded nine top-10 smallbore finishes, including one first-place and two second-place.
Before Nebraska
Rhode placed first in the air rifle and third in the smallbore at the 2021 Women’s Junior Olympic State Championship. She qualified for the USA Shooting National Junior Olympics for the last five years and has earned multiple other state championships in her home state of Pennsylvania.
Personal
Rhode is majoring in biological systems engineering at Nebraska. She was born on Sept. 12, 2003, to Carrie and Tab Rhode. She has two dogs, Gunnar and Smokey. She started shooting with her grandpa, who made a target out of cardboard and a Sharpie. Outside of rifle, she participated in FFA and 4H. She chose to come to Nebraska because of how welcomed she felt by everyone, and because of the academic and athletic resources the university offers.
