Satchel Stern is in his first season as a graduate manager after joining the Nebraska men’s basketball staff in January of 2025.
Stern comes to Lincoln after spending the past three-plus years working for Drew Hanlen’s Pure Sweat, where he worked with Hanlen in training NBA players such as Zach Lavine, Jayson Tatum, Joel Embiid and Bradley Beal. Stern also conducted research on analytical models for company clients. Stern was also a trainee in the NBA League Office during the 2023-24 season, where he learned under NBA staff in the various components of the basketball operations staff and worked with events such as the NBA Combine and the NBA All-Star Game. He also previously served internships with the Detroit Pistons scouting department and with the Chicago Bulls,
He served as a student manager at Butler for four seasons, where he helped with various day-to-day operations, including assisting at practices, filming and coding and assisting the program’s recruiting coordinator helping to analyze potential student athletes.
Stern graduated from Butler University with a degree in sports management in 2022 and is pursuing a masters’s degree in applied science at Nebraska.
